Our honeymoon trip down south was sleeping in the back of my work vehicle. It was a VW Kombi van, from Adair Installations, where I worked installing ducted reverse-cycle airconditioning in homes and offices. Ann and I did the caves of the south-west of WA. I also discovered an extra non-tourist cave that I explored myself. I caught a few trout in a nearby stream, it was Ann's first encounter cleaning a fish. There would be many more to come, as she was now in the Jefferies family! We explored the south coast through to Albany, with free camping for the week.
Our first home was a rented duplex unit in Hampton Park, situated between Morley and Lockridge. The rear of the unit was a bit of a mess, which I cleared and expanded the lawn area. We were only in it for about 6 months before we headed off the to mission field at Kurrawang, near Kalgoolie.
One morning, at the my work factory unit, two kittens rocked up so I brought them home as our first cats.(We had a few in our time).

One early winter's weekend we headed off to Ken & Beth's farm, near Kondinnin, to pick wild mushrooms from their paddocks. We took Nancy & her friend, Gail. It was freezing cold, we got drenched to the bone in the rain. Beth had to loan us some old clothes as we dried out by the fire. It was a lot of fun though, and very cosy in the farmhouse.
Ann & I took some young girls from our church to the Perth Zoo one day. These images are Ann on the zoo carousel.
One Saturday we took a day trip with my sister Elvie & her four boys, along with my brother Graeme & wife Marg, checking out the Wellington Dam & the coal mining town of Collie. I had loaded my little wooden row boat on top of my work van, which added to the fun for the family.

The next car for me was a Ford Lotus Escort.

I sold my cherished HD Holden and bought a Ford Lotus Escort, but only had it a short while as is developed an engine fault and I did not have the money to fix it. I had installed the latest thing; an 8-track stereo and bigger speakers. We only had a few cassette tapes; Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zepplin & The Carpenters. We played them to death, which is probably why Ann can't stand the Carpenters anymore!
My sister Elvie took a holiday trip to Thailand (I think the only trip she ever had from her kids), and the boys were not happy. She flew out by plane and returned by boat. Needless to say, everyone was happy to see her safely return home.

We swam in an abanded coal pit just out of Collie, but oh so cold water! Ann, Elvie, Peter & Steven.
On the way down the hill we stopped at the irrigation channel flowing down from the Wellington Dam. My brother Graeme and wife, Marg, with daughter Trina.
We toured the Lake Cave, Mammoth Cave & Jewel Cave, and I found an extra one in the scrub.

Wellington Dam is within Wellington National Park near Collie in Western Australia's South West, stands as a significant feat of engineering and a vibrant cultural landmark. Constructed in 1933 during the Great Depression, the dam was a major public works project aimed at supplying water for the Collie River Irrigation District. Initially, it had a storage capacity of 31,000 megalitres. Subsequent expansions in 1944 and 1960 increased its capacity to 186,000 megalitres, making it the state's fourth-largest dam after the Ord River, South Dandalup, and Serpentine dams .
